Gujarat Police Recruitment: Physical tests for over 13,500 posts begin from Jan 21

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board (GPRB) has initiated the recruitment process for a total of 13,591 vacancies, including 858 posts in the Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) cadre and 12,733 posts in the Lokrakshak cadre, under advertisement number GPRB/202526/1.

According to the board, more than 10 lakh candidates have registered for the recruitment process. Eligible candidates have been called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) beginning January 21, 2026.

The physical tests will be conducted at designated examination grounds across 15 cities, districts, SRP groups and training centres in the state.

Test Schedule

  • Male candidates:
    Physical tests will be held at 11 grounds from January 21 to March 13, 2026.

  • Female and ex-servicemen candidates:
    Tests will be conducted at four grounds from January 21 to March 6, 2026.

Administrative Arrangements

Each examination ground will be supervised by an officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) or Superintendent of Police (SP), supported by more than 90 police personnel.Additionally, officers of the rank of DIGP or IGP have been appointed as overall supervisory authorities at every ground.

Security and Technology Measures

  • Biometric registration of all candidates appearing for the physical tests will be mandatory.

  • Modern technology will be used during the running test to ensure accuracy and transparency.

  • The entire testing process will be conducted under CCTV surveillance.

  • A central control room has been established at the Recruitment Board headquarters in Gandhinagar to monitor all examination centres in real time.

Physical Efficiency Standards

  • Male candidates: 5,000 metres run in 25 minutes

  • Female candidates: 1,600 metres run in 9 minutes 30 seconds

  • Ex-servicemen candidates: 2,400 metres run in 12 minutes 30 seconds

Physical Standard Requirements

Height criteria:

  • Male candidates

    • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 162 cm

    • Non-ST: 165 cm

  • Female candidates

    • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 150 cm

    • Non-ST: 155 cm

Chest measurement (male candidates):

  • Minimum chest size: 79 cm

  • Expanded chest: 84 cm

  • Minimum expansion required: 5 cm

All physical measurements, including height and chest measurements, will be conducted by officials and staff from the Health Department.

Educational Qualifications

  • Police Sub-Inspector (PSI): Graduate degree or equivalent

  • Lokrakshak: Class 12 pass or equivalent
