Western Railway completes line 3 upgrade at Vadodara station; Platform 3 extended
January 21, 2026
Vadodara: Western Railway’s Vadodara Division has completed key improvement works on line number 3 at Vadodara Railway Station, including a 50-metre extension of platform number 3 and strengthening of the track structure.
Public Relations Officer Anubhav Saxena said the works were completed within 25 days by utilising an engineering block, with the objective of improving train punctuality, operational safety, and passenger movement.
The upgrades address long-standing waterlogging issues that had caused unhygienic conditions, track circuit failures, and sleeper damage. Measures include laying a new 400-metre-long water hydrant pipeline and constructing a 300-metre central drain between lines 3 and 4 to facilitate effective drainage of both surface and subsurface water. In addition, the existing 380-metre central drain was repaired and fitted with cover screens.
Track strengthening involved deep screening over a 790-metre stretch, replacement of damaged sleepers, and correction of track geometry to permit speeds of up to 30 kmph. The improvements are expected to enhance safety, operational efficiency, and passenger convenience at the station. DeshGujarat
