Ahmedabad Airport issues passenger advisory amid enhanced security ahead of Republic Day

Ahmedabad: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city has been placed on alert, with enhanced security arrangements to remain in force from January 26 to January 31, 2026.

In view of the heightened security measures and mandatory checks, airlines and airport authorities have issued a passenger advisory urging travellers to arrive at the airport well in advance and plan their journeys accordingly.

The advisory states, “Due to enhanced security measures and mandatory checks ahead of Republic Day celebrations, passengers are advised to arrive early at the airport and plan their journey accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to enhance your travel experience.”

Key things to remember:

  • Check-in counters will close 60 minutes before departure.

  • Boarding gates will shut 25 minutes prior to flight time.

  • Hand baggage and luggage will undergo double security screening.

  • Passengers are advised to carry only one hand bag weighing up to 7 kg, with restricted items permitted as per aviation norms.

  • Additional time should be kept in hand to avoid missing flights.

Airport officials stated that such security arrangements are standard protocol across major airports in the country during Republic Day to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations.

Travellers are requested to regularly check their flight status and stay updated through their respective airline or the airport’s official website before commencing their journey.
