Gandhinagar: In a major push to promote Sanskrit learning across the state, the Gujarat State Sanskrit Board has announced financial assistance for educational and cultural institutions to establish ‘Sanskrit Kaksh’ (Sanskrit Classrooms).
As part of the initiative aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the board will provide a grant of up to Rs 50,000 to eligible institutions for creating a dedicated Sanskrit learning environment. The assistance will be transferred directly through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
As per the official note, the grant will be used to procure teaching and learning resources such as Sanskrit posters, flash cards, activity kits, dictionaries, mini-library sets, exhibition material and ICT-based digital content.
According to the guidelines, institutions may spend Rs 5,000 on kits prepared by Sanskrit Bharati, another Rs 5,000 on kits developed by the Promotion Foundation, Rs 3,200 on printing exhibition material, while the remaining amount can be utilised for creative teaching aids, Sanskrit literature, reference books and library resources.
The board has invited applications from government, private, social and religious institutions through its official website. Approved institutions will be required to appoint a Sanskrit coordinator, allocate space for the classroom, and ensure proper utilisation of the grant under the board’s supervision.
The initiative aims to strengthen Sanskrit education in Gujarat and promote India’s cultural and linguistic heritage among students and society at large. DeshGujarat
