January 30, 2026
Surat: Given the upcoming visit of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to Surat on Saturday, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has announced diversions on certain routes of city bus and BRTS services.
According to the Surat Traffic Police, several traffic and security arrangements will be in place on January 31, 2026, during the Chief Minister’s visit to the city. Keeping his security category in mind, the travel route will include movement from Surat Airport to Dabholi Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium Hall, then onward to Sarsana Dome, and back to the airport.
Due to these arrangements, BRTS and city bus services passing through the affected areas will be diverted or curtailed during the bandobast period. Several routes will remain closed, while others will operate partially or be diverted as required. The affected routes include 12, 13, 14, 17, 21, 106, 107, 116, 117, 127, 136, 137, 153, 206, 209, 213, 216, 658, 706 and 716.
SMC officials said these changes will be implemented from 2 pm onwards on January 31 until the completion of the programme. Normal services will resume once further instructions are issued by the traffic police. Citizens are advised to take note of the temporary changes and plan their travel accordingly.
The Surat Municipal Corporation provides BRTS and city bus services to citizens at affordable rates as part of its public transport system. Surat currently operates India’s longest dedicated BRTS corridor of 108 km, with 367 BRTS buses running on 13 routes. In addition, 387 city buses operate on 45 routes, covering a total route length of 452 km. More than two lakh passengers benefit from these services daily. DeshGujarat
