Vande Bharat Express stone pelting near Vapi: Two held after CCTV probe

Vapi: Railway Police have arrested two persons accused of pelting stones at the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express, an incident that damaged the glass of the C/11 coach and caused panic among passengers. The arrests were made within two days based on CCTV evidence, and the accused have been sent to jail.
The stone-pelting incident occurred on January 27 near Vapi, between Udvada and Vapi railway stations. Officials said the attack shattered a windowpane of the coach, frightening passengers onboard.
Following the incident, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) launched an investigation and formed a special team under the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Mumbai Central, Santosh Kumar Singh Rathore.
CCTV footage from the train’s engine and coaches was obtained from the Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway. The footage reportedly showed two suspicious individuals pelting stones near kilometre 177/07.
The accused were identified as Satendra Kumar alias Chhotu (20), a resident of Morai Phatak, Vapi, and his accomplice, Shripal Shivnaresh. They were tracked with the help of CCTV footage and informers.
Satendra was produced before the Surat Railway Court, which remanded him to judicial custody in Navsari Sub Jail. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
