Nal Sarovar plot scam leaves 15 investors cheated

Ahmedabad: A fake plot investment scheme promising affordable land near Nal Sarovar has allegedly cheated over 15 investors of more than ₹50.21 lakh.

The scam began in 2011 when Jayanti Prajapati, a diamond factory owner from Palanpur, was introduced to a project named “Nal Upavan” by Anjani Bilcom, operating from Naroda. The accused, Pravin Patel, Ashok Patel, Chhagan Patel and Himanshu Patel, claimed the 150-acre project was located near Nal Sarovar and lured investors with brochures and photographs.

Under the scheme, investors were asked to pay ₹5,000 per month for 72 months, with assurance of registered plot documents after full payment. Trusting the offer, Jayanti invested and introduced around 15 others.

Between 2011 and 2018, the group collectively invested ₹50.21 lakh. However, after payments were completed, the accused allegedly avoided handing over documents and began making excuses.

Following years of delay, a complaint was filed, and Naroda Police have registered a cheating case. The accused are currently absconding, and more victims are expected to emerge during the investigation. DeshGujarat
