Unseasonal rain showers hit parts of Gujarat
January 31, 2026
Dang: A sudden change in weather conditions was witnessed in Dang district of South Gujarat late Friday night, as strong winds followed by unseasonal rain affected Saputara, Ahwa, and several surrounding rural areas.
The weather remained volatile throughout the day, with heavy winds sweeping across the district and dense cloud cover forming overhead. Intermittent showers were later reported in parts of Ahwa, leading to a temporary drop in temperature and a noticeable rise in humidity. Tourist destination Saputara also experienced cloudy skies accompanied by light rainfall.
Unseasonal rain was recorded late at night in Saputara, Ghotiyamal, and nearby villages, triggering concern among farmers. Although the rainfall intensity remained low, the unexpected showers during the winter season have raised fears of potential damage to standing crops.
Though, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had not forecast rainfall in any part of Gujarat, yet these areas witnessed light showers, catching residents and farmers off guard. DeshGujarat
