February 01, 2026
Tharad: Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary has indicated that an international airport is likely to be developed in Tharad, stating that the proposed facility will be of international—not merely national—standard and is expected to drive large-scale regional development.
He made the remarks during a Republic Day felicitation programme honouring community contributors, where he spoke about Tharad’s future growth prospects.
Chaudhary emphasised that the international airport would significantly enhance cargo connectivity and enable travel within 30 minutes, attracting top educators, reputed academic institutions, and industries from across the world to the region.
He added that the project is expected to take shape in the near future and would transform the wider area, benefiting not only Ahmedabad but also regions stretching from Jodhpur to North Gujarat and Kutch. DeshGujarat
