Ahmedabad Police book 120 online entities including Twitter, Instagram accounts

Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Saturday registered an FIR against 120 online entities, including social media profiles and websites, for allegedly running solicitation and prostitution rackets, circulating obscene content, and cheating people through online payments.

Briefing the media, J K Makwana, PI, Crime Branch, said, “We have identified and booked 120 entities, including Instagram and Twitter accounts and websites, running illegal escorting rackets. Obscene images and videos of women were found on these platforms. Some of these images were made using AI technology.”

Police said the case was detected during routine digital surveillance, which revealed multiple accounts advertising sexual services with explicit images and videos. Investigators found that operators shared payment details via messages, lured users into transferring money, and then allegedly defrauded them.

Preliminary findings suggest that several victims were cheated after being asked to make online payments. DeshGujarat
