Gujarat to receive Rs 57,310 crore as share of central taxes in 2026–27

Gandhinagar: Gujarat is expected to receive Rs 57,310.86 crore as its share of central tax revenue in the financial year 2026–27, as outlined in the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday.

The state’s allocation has risen steadily over the past two years, showing an overall increase of nearly 30 per cent. Gujarat received Rs 44,019.68 crore in 2024–25 and Rs 48,763.47 crore in 2025–26. The projected jump of around Rs 13,291 crore is likely to boost the state’s finances and enable greater investment in sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and road development.

Among the major tax components, income tax contributes the largest portion at Rs 20,395.40 crore, followed by corporation tax at Rs 16,823.72 crore and Central GST at Rs 15,674.49 crore. Gujarat will also receive Rs 3,057.71 crore from customs duties, along with smaller transfers, including Rs 1,302.58 crore from Union excise duties and Rs 56.96 crore from other sources, reflecting an overall strengthening of the state’s revenue inflows from central taxes.

As per the 16th Finance Commission framework, 41 per cent of the Centre’s total tax proceeds are distributed among states. Uttar Pradesh will receive the largest allocation at Rs 2.73 lakh crore, followed by Bihar (Rs 1.53 lakh crore), Madhya Pradesh (Rs 1.19 lakh crore), West Bengal (Rs 1.14 lakh crore), and Maharashtra (Rs 96,413.50 crore). Gujarat stands at the 10th position with Rs 57,310.86 crore. DeshGujarat
