Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat on Thursday trapped two employees of Detroj Gram Panchayat while accepting a bribe of ₹9,800.
Acting on a complaint, the ACB arrested Ketanbhai Jayantibhai Dharjiya, Talati-cum-Mantri of Detroj Gram Panchayat, and Jayantibhai Dhudaji Thakor, a temporary peon, red-handed from Khodiyar Agro Center in Detroj.
According to the ACB, Dharjiya had visited the complainant’s residential society to assess seven houses and allegedly demanded ₹1,600 per house as tax and ₹1,400 per house as illegal gratification, totalling ₹21,000. As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he approached the ACB. During the trap laid on February 5, Dharjiya allegedly sent Thakor to collect the amount. The accused accepted ₹11,200 as tax and ₹9,800 as bribe, following which the ACB team caught both accused on the spot and recovered the entire bribe amount. DesGujarat
