Gujarat Assembly Budget Session from Feb 16; State Budget Likely on Feb 18

Gandhinagar: Preparations for the Budget Session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly have been completed, and a provisional timetable for the session has been released by the Assembly Secretariat.
As per the provisional timetable, the session is set to begin on Monday, February 16, 2026, with a motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, followed by obituary references and government business. Detailed discussions on the Governor’s address are scheduled to take place over three days which are February 19, 20, and 23.
A key highlight of the session will be the presentation of the Budget by Finance Minister Kanu Desai for the 2026–27 fiscal year, scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
On the same day, the Assembly will also see the presentation of supplementary expenditure for 2025–26 and statements of excess expenditure for various prior years, including 2011–12 and 2018–19. The general discussion on the Budget will begin on February 25 and conclude on March 5.
The schedule outlines a busy month of March, focusing heavily on demands for grants, with discussions and voting spanning twelve days from March 6 to March 23. The Assembly will also take up various government and non-government bills and resolutions throughout the session.
