Cop suspended after drunk driving accident on Godhra-Lunawada highway

Vadodara: A police sub-inspector, allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, knocked down a pedestrian and rammed his SUV into another car on the Godhra–Lunawada highway near Bhayasar village in Lunawada taluka of Mahisagar district on Wednesday evening.
The pedestrian, Mansukh Nayak (60), a caretaker of highway-side shops, was injured while returning to his room after work and was taken to a hospital. Police said the driver was found in a heavily intoxicated condition at the scene and was later identified as armed PSI H G Kharadi of the Mahisagar police Quick Response Team. He was taken into custody and arrested, and medical tests were conducted to confirm alcohol consumption.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Vasava said Kharadi has been suspended with immediate effect, a departmental inquiry has been initiated, and steps are underway to cancel his driving licence. DeshGujarat
