Delhi–Mumbai Expressway to Be Completed by 2027, claims MoS Harsh Malhotra

New Delhi: “The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway will be completed by 2027. This route will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Mumbai to just 12 hours, compared to the current 33 hours,” said Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra at a press conference on Friday.

He stated that the route will significantly improve economic integration. In addition, the Central Government is working on several plans to ease traffic congestion in Delhi.

He also mentioned that in this year’s Budget, approximately ₹3 lakh crore has been allocated for road infrastructure projects across the country. This allocation will help expand the national road network. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is one of the Central Government’s key initiatives, aimed at connecting Delhi and Mumbai through a 1,350-kilometre-long corridor.

The project is being implemented in several phases and is part of the government’s green highway corridor initiative. Upon completion, the route will benefit Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Notably, the statement does not specify whether the expressway will be ready by the start of 2027 or by the end of 2027, as work on packages 8, 9, and 10 of the Vadodara–Virar section is still far from completion. DeshGujarat
