Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridors: DPR, Land Acquisition, Forest Clearance Process Underway

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government had proposed the development of 12 Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridors in the 2025–26 state budget to strengthen and modernise Gujarat’s road network. The project is steadily moving forward, with multiple corridors now at different stages of planning and execution. Following the announcement of these new high-speed corridors, approval was granted for nine corridors covering a total length of 809 kilometres at an estimated cost of ₹5,576 crore.

Now, as part of the implementation process, the government has initiated a series of tenders related to the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), feasibility studies, land acquisition, and forest clearance for several key stretches across the North, Central, and Saurashtra regions.

DPR preparation and feasibility studies

Consultancy tenders have been floated for DPR preparation of important routes, including:

• Dahegam–Bayad–Lunawada–Santrampur–Zalod corridor in Arvalli, Mahisagar, and Dahod districts

• Lunawada–Santrampur and Santrampur–Zalod road stretches in Mahisagar and Dahod

• Dhoridungari–Garasiyawada road in Mahisagar

• Shihori–Patan and Patan–Unjha sections of State Highway-130, including four-laning proposals

• Patan bypass connectivity between Shihori junction and Unjha road junction, covering feasibility, DPR, land acquisition, and forest clearance components

These DPR activities mark a crucial early step toward engineering design, cost estimation, and phased construction planning.

Land acquisition and forest clearance processes

Parallel administrative groundwork is also underway. Consultants are being engaged for:

  • • Forest clearance for the Santrod–Devgadh Baria–Chhota Udepur stretch in Dahod district

  • • Land acquisition for multiple Junagadh district corridors, including Mendarda–Keshod, Keshod–Mangrol, Kaneri–Mesvan–Sondarda–Kevdra, and Khadiya–Bilkha–Manekwada roads

  • • Land acquisition for Shihori–Patan and Patan–Unjha four-laning works under Phase-1

These steps are essential before civil construction can begin on most stretches.

Corridors approved with budget allocation

The Chief Minister, in October last year, sanctioned ₹5,576 crore for the construction of nine Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridors covering a total length of 809 kilometres.

The Bagodara–Dhandhuka–Barwala–Botad corridor (92.23 km) has been allotted ₹67.43 crore, while Botad–Dhasa–Chavand–Amreli–Bagasra–Bilkha–Mendarda (67.30 km) will receive ₹158.6 crore.

The Mendarda–Keshod–Mangrol stretch (48.55 km) has been sanctioned ₹81.38 crore, and Unjha–Patan–Shihori–Diyodar–Bhabhar (105.05 km) has been allocated ₹858.39 crore.

Similarly, Karjan–Dabhoi–Bodeli (71.10 km) has been approved ₹331.16 crore, while the long Dehgam–Bayad–Lunawada–Santrampur–Jhalod corridor (167.54 km) will receive ₹1,514.41 crore.

The Ahmedabad–Harsol–Gambhoi–Vijayanagar route (143.30 km) has been allotted ₹640.30 crore, Santrampur–Morwa Hadaf–Santrod (49.90 km) ₹861.71 crore, and Santrod–Devgadh Baria–Chhota Udepur (64.05 km) ₹1,062.82 crore.

Expected impact

Once completed, the high-speed corridors will enable faster travel, improve logistics efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and stimulate trade, tourism, and regional economic growth, particularly in tribal and semi-urban areas.

With DPR preparation, statutory clearances, and land acquisition processes now advancing simultaneously across multiple corridors, the Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridor project is entering a decisive execution phase aimed at transforming the state’s transport landscape in the coming years.
