Traffic restrictions announced for T20 World Cup matches at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Traffic Police has prepared a comprehensive security and traffic management plan as the city gears up to host multiple matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, starting February 9.

To ensure smooth movement of spectators and handle the anticipated presence of VVIPs, strict arrangements have been introduced to prevent unauthorised entry onto the field and to curb incidents such as mobile phone theft inside the stadium. The match schedule includes South Africa vs Canada on February 9, followed by South Africa vs Afghanistan on February 11, New Zealand vs South Africa on February 14, and India vs Netherlands on February 18.

Route restrictions

Vehicular movement has been restricted on the stretch from Janpath T-junction to the main gate of Motera Stadium and onward to the Motera Village T-junction. Commuters have been advised to use alternate routes, including travel from Tapovan Circle via ONGC to Visat, then towards Janpath and Power House. Another diversion allows motorists to move from Krupa Residency to Sharan Status Crossroads and continue through Bhat Koteshwar Road towards Apollo Circle.

These traffic restrictions will remain in force from 3:00 PM to 2:00 AM on February 9, 14, and 18, while on February 11 they will apply from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

To manage traffic flow and parking arrangements, 744 personnel have been deployed across four designated sectors. The deployment includes one Joint Commissioner of Police, three Deputy Commissioners, four Assistant Commissioners, along with inspectors, sub-inspectors, and home guards. DeshGujarat
