Stone pelting at wedding in Anand; 8 injured
February 11, 2026
Anand: A wedding ceremony in Anand ended in chaos after a dispute between members of the bride’s and groom’s families escalated into a physical clash, leaving more than eight people injured.
It is learnt that the argument broke out after the ceremony and soon turned violent, with sticks and stones allegedly used during the confrontation. Chairs were also reportedly thrown as tensions flared, while the bride and groom remained seated facing each other.
In an unusual turn, instead of proceeding with the customary farewell, members of both families, along with the newly married couple, went to a police station after the stone-pelting incident. Police intervened, counselled both sides, and facilitated a settlement. No formal complaint has been registered so far.
Preliminary information suggests the dispute stemmed from a financial issue discussed after the wedding. Police obtained a written undertaking from both parties to maintain peace and later ensured the bride’s safe departure. DeshGujarat
