32 Lakh Passengers Travel on Vande Bharat Trains from Gujarat in 13 Months
February 13, 2026
Ahmedabad: Between January 1, 2025, and January 31, 2026, nearly 32 lakh passengers travelled on five pairs of Vande Bharat trains operating from Gujarat over a 13-month period.
According to Western Railway, the Vande Bharat Express has emerged as a preferred choice due to its high speed and comfort-oriented travel experience. The Mumbai–Ahmedabad–Mumbai service recorded an occupancy rate of 140%, while the Ahmedabad–Okha route maintained around 90% occupancy. The Sabarmati–Jodhpur Vande Bharat also registered occupancy exceeding 81%.
It is also noteworthy that this number is expected to rise further with the upcoming launch of the Vande Bharat Express train between Asarwa and Udaipur, a destination frequently visited by Gujaratis. The new service will become the sixth semi-high-speed train catering to the state, connecting Ahmedabad with Udaipur via Himmatnagar, Dungarpur, and Zawar. DeshGujarat
