February 13, 2026
Vadodara: A controversy has emerged in the Gayatrinagar society of Gorwa area after Hindu residents alleged that two houses were sold without permission under the Disturbed Areas Act.
On Friday, members of local Hindu organisations and a Sangharsh Samiti held a protest march to the District Collector’s office and submitted a memorandum demanding strict implementation of the Act.
Protesters raised slogans and claimed that the society has a Hindu majority and that two residential properties had allegedly been transferred to Vidharmi persons. According to residents, the owners initially stated the houses were rented out, but locals later suspected they had been sold.
The memorandum submitted to the Collector demanded an inquiry into whether the transactions were carried out in violation of the Disturbed Areas Act and sought appropriate legal action if rules were breached.
Residents also stated that they had earlier approached the Municipal Commissioner regarding the matter but alleged that no action was taken, prompting them to escalate the issue to the district administration. DeshGujarat
