Ahmedabad Police Notifies Two Dedicated Police Stations for All Metro-Related Complaints

Ahmedabad: The metro rail network operating in Ahmedabad city is spread over more than 60 kilometers and passes through the limits of several local police stations. To ensure effective coordination and prompt police action in the event of crimes or untoward incidents related to metro trains or metro properties, Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner Shri G. S. Malik has issued an important notification under sub-section (12) of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951.
According to the notification, the metro rail network has been divided into two sectors and specific police stations have been assigned the responsibility of registering crimes to ensure administrative convenience and ease for the public.
Under the new arrangement, incidents such as theft, assault, molestation, obscene behaviour inside metro trains, as well as crimes related to damage to metro buildings, platforms or electrical infrastructure, will be registered sector-wise.
Complaints for incidents occurring within Sector-1 covering police station areas of Zone-1, Zone-7, Zone-2 and Zone-3 including Vastrapur, Sola, Ghatlodia, Gujarat University, Naranpura, Navrangpura, Sabarmati Riverfront West, Wadaj, Ellisbridge, Sarkhej, Vasna, Vejalpur, Bodakdev, Anandnagar, Paldi, Satellite, Chandkheda, Madhavpura, Ranip, Sabarmati, Sabarmati Riverfront East, Karanj, Shahpur, Kalupur, Shahar Kotda, Gaikwad Haveli and Khadia will be registered at Paldi Police Station. This arrangement aims to prevent confusion among passengers regarding jurisdiction.
Similarly, complaints from Sector-2 covering Zones-4, 5 and 6 including Dariyapur, Shahibaug, Airport, Krishnanagar, Meghaninagar, Naroda, Sardar Nagar, Bapunagar, Gomtipur, Rakhial, Amraiwadi, Khokhra, Nikol, Odhav, Ramol, Isanpur, Maninagar, Vatva, Vatva GIDC, Danilimda, Kagdapith and Narol will be registered at Khokhra Police Station for crimes related to metro trains or metro property.
However, the notification clarifies that matters not directly related to metro property such as fights or disputes occurring on platforms or surrounding areas will continue to be handled by the local police station of the respective jurisdiction. DeshGujarat
