MSP procurement of Tur to begin across Gujarat from Feb 23

Gandhinagar: The purchase of tur (pigeon pea) at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) will commence across Gujarat from February 23, 2026, Agriculture Minister Jitubhai Vaghani announced following a State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Providing details, the minister said the Government of India declares MSPs and procures agricultural produce to ensure economic protection for farmers and to guarantee remunerative prices for their crops.

For the 2025–26 season, the MSP for tur has been fixed at ₹8,000 per quintal (₹1,600 per maund). Encouraged by the assured price, farmers across the state have cultivated the crop extensively. So far, more than 1.33 lakh farmers have registered to sell their produce at the support price, he added.

Keeping in view the area under cultivation and expected production, around 130 procurement centres have been notified across the state. The Cabinet has decided that procurement at MSP will begin at these centres from February 23.

Registered farmers will receive advance SMS intimation regarding procurement schedules. They have been requested to bring the allotted quantity of produce to the designated procurement centre after receiving the message to avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits.

The minister assured that the state government will procure adequate quantities of tur from all registered farmers and stated that necessary advance planning has already been completed. DeshGujarat
