One Arrested for Hoisting Jain Flag at Girnar’s Oghadnath Site

Junagadh: Police have arrested a businessman for allegedly attempting to spread enmity between two religious sects after a Jain flag was hoisted at Oghadnath Kot, a site associated with the Nath sect at Girnar mountain.
The accused has been identified as Anurag Jain, a resident businessman. However, the two individuals seen hoisting the flag in the viral video have not yet been identified, and efforts are underway to trace them.
Complaint Filed by Nath Sect Mahant
According to DySP Hitesh Dhandhalya, the flag of the Digambar Jain sect was hoisted at Oghadnath Kot, which belongs to the Nath sect and is situated on Girnar mountain. Photographs and videos of the incident quickly circulated on social media, leading to tensions.
A complaint was lodged by 55-year-old Mahant Pir Yogi Somnathji, who performs worship of Shrinathji at the Dalicho site. In his complaint, he stated that the act created hostility between the Nath sect and the Jain community and disturbed public peace and harmony.
Protected Monument
The Oghadnath site falls under the protection of the Archaeology Department. Authorities have taken the matter seriously due to its sensitive religious and heritage significance.
Police confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to identify the individuals who physically hoisted the flag and to determine the sequence of events leading to the incident.
Officials have appealed to the public not to spread unverified information on social media and to maintain communal harmony.
