1,600+ Police Personnel Deployed for Transmission Line Works in Kutch, Dwarka Over Two Years

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has revealed that it deployed a significant police force over the past two years to assist government and private companies in laying transmission lines for renewable energy projects in the Kutch and Devbhumi Dwarka districts. This provision of “on-payment” security has generated substantial revenue for the state, according to data presented in the State Assembly.

Deployment Figures

To facilitate the installation of transmission poles carrying solar and wind energy to the power grid, the government deployed a total of 1,495 police personnel in Kutch and 122 personnel in Devbhumi Dwarka over the past two years, as of December 21, 2025. The deployment was aimed at ensuring the smooth execution of infrastructure development works in the renewable energy sector.

Significant Revenue Growth

Revenue generated from these security arrangements witnessed a sharp increase between 2024 and 2025:

  • Kutch district: The state earned ₹3,93,91,848 in 2024, which more than doubled to ₹8,24,59,935 in 2025.

  • Devbhumi Dwarka district: Revenue rose from ₹16,09,002 in 2024 to ₹46,70,220 in 2025.

Adherence to Guidelines

The Home Department stated that companies seeking police protection must comply with prescribed terms and conditions. These deployments are governed by Government Resolution (GR) No. MHK-1098-876-S dated October 1, 1999, along with other regulations updated periodically by the competent authorities.
