IndiGo to Operate Jeddah – Ahmedabad Special Flight; Other Gulf Flights Remain Cancelled at SVPI Airport
March 03, 2026
Ahmedabad: With many travellers from Gujarat stranded in Gulf countries such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, flight disruptions at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport continued for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday. Several incoming and outgoing flights between Ahmedabad and West Asian destinations were cancelled, causing trouble for stranded people and their kin back home.
However, in a major relief for stranded passengers, the Government of India on Monday announced special arrangements to facilitate their movement.
“Special arrangements are being made to facilitate the movement of stranded passengers. Airlines are deploying additional capacity where required and coordinating closely with foreign aviation authorities and Indian missions abroad to ensure safe and orderly passenger movement,” the government said.
As part of these measures, IndiGo announced that it will operate four dedicated flights from Jeddah on March 3, 2026, to Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
“These flights are being arranged to cater to customers who were already booked on our flights and have been unable to travel due to the prevailing circumstances. Customers seeking further details or assistance are requested to reach out to our contact centre at +91 124 6173838. Our teams remain available to guide and support you with the next steps,” the airline said.
According to the airport website, only one special arrival flight from Jeddah to Ahmedabad is scheduled to operate today, while all other services to and from West Asian destinations remain cancelled, marking the fourth consecutive day of disruption.
The disruption follows recent US–Israel military action against Iran and the subsequent counteraction, which has impacted air traffic across parts of West Asia.
