Surat Police Nab Mastermind ‘Farjana’ in 14-Year-Old Girl’s Trafficking Case
March 03, 2026
Surat: In a major breakthrough, Limbayat police arrested Farzana (alias Fajjo) Rafiq Shah, the mastermind behind the trafficking of a 14-year-old girl from Limbayat. Farzana, who had evaded capture for five months, was nabbed in Panoli along with her brother-in-law, Arif Yunush Shah, accused of sheltering her.
The case came to light in 2025, when two accused, Noori Sheikh and Farzana, abducted the minor girl and sold her to one Shoaib for ₹50,000. When she resisted his advances, Shoaib returned her. Farzana and Noori then sold her for ₹2 lakh to a man in Solapur, Maharashtra, who subjected her to three months of torture and sexual exploitation under the guise of a forced marriage. The traffickers even staged a mock temple wedding to seal the deal.
The girl’s rescue stemmed from an unexpected act of kindness: the buyer’s sister, moved by her suffering, let her use a phone to call her mother in Surat. Fearing legal trouble, the buyer sent her back after which she revealed the full trafficking ring to authorities.
While Noori Sheikh and her husband, Wasim, were arrested earlier, Farzana and Arif’s capture marks major progress. Limbayat Police Inspector N.K. Kamaliya and his team are investigating links to other victims and seeking remand to dismantle the network. DeshGujarat.
