March 04, 2026
Gir Somnath: Mango juice enthusiasts should exercise caution before the coming mango season, as authorities have uncovered a massive stockpile of adulterated and inedible mango juice in Hadmatiya Gir village of Talala taluka in Gir Somnath.
In a joint operation, the Gir Somnath Special Operations Group (SOG) and Food Safety Officers raided the Ruchil Agro Food Product Plant located on the outskirts of Hadmatiya Gir village. During a search of the facility’s warehouse, officials found and seized approximately 16,000 litres of mango juice.
According to officials, the seized stock was nearly two years old, adulterated and unfit for consumption, and was allegedly being stored for sale during the ongoing wedding season and the upcoming summer demand for mango beverages. Police managed to intercept the stock before it could reach the market.
Authorities said the entire quantity was confiscated and later handed over to the Food Safety Department for further examination and action. A formal investigation into the matter is currently underway. DeshGujarat
