Emergency Sirens to Be Tested in Ahmedabad’s Lal Darwaza Area on March 7
March 06, 2026
Ahmedabad: The eerie sound of sirens, once heard during Operation Sindoor, will once again echo across the city on Saturday. This comes as the Civil Defence Department has announced that sirens will be tested at the Home Guards Bhavan in the Lal Darwaza area on March 7 as part of a procurement exercise.
According to an official notice issued by A.A. Sheikh, Commandant and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Civil Defence Training School, Gujarat, the testing will take place between 8 am and 10 am. During this period, the sirens will be sounded intermittently as part of a technical evaluation before the final purchase decision is made.
Officials said the exercise is a routine procedure aimed at assessing the functionality and sound coverage of the siren systems proposed for use in the civil defence network.
Authorities also clarified that the sirens are part of a controlled testing process and do not signal any emergency. Residents and people working in and around the Lal Darwaza area have been advised not to panic if they hear the sirens during the scheduled testing window. DeshGujarat
