Ahmedabad: In view of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium and the ongoing festive traffic due to Holi, Western Railway has announced the operation of two pairs of special superfast trains between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad to cater to the surge in passenger demand and facilitate travel for cricket fans.

According to Western Railway, the special trains will run on March 7, 8, and 9, allowing spectators travelling from Mumbai to attend the high-profile final match and return conveniently. The trains will operate on special fare and are expected to benefit a large number of cricket enthusiasts travelling to Ahmedabad for the event.

Tejas Superfast Special Trains

Train No. 09027 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Tejas Special will depart from Mumbai Central at 11:45 pm on March 7 and reach Ahmedabad at 8:30 am the next day.

The return service, Train No. 09028 Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Tejas Special, will depart from Ahmedabad at 3:00 am on March 9 and arrive at Mumbai Central at 11:15 am the same day.

These trains will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, and Vadodara stations in both directions. The rake composition will include First AC, AC 2-Tier, and AC 3-Tier coaches.

AC Superfast Special Trains

Another pair of trains, Train No. 09021 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special, will depart Mumbai Central at 6:20 am on March 8 and reach Ahmedabad at 12:40 pm the same day.

The return service, Train No. 09022 Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special, will depart Ahmedabad at 3:10 pm on March 8 and reach Mumbai Central at 9:45 pm the same evening.

These trains will also halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, and Vadodara in both directions. The train composition will include Vistadome, Executive Anubhuti, Executive Chair Car, and AC Chair Car coaches.

Railway authorities said booking for Train Nos. 09027 and 09028 opened on March 6, while reservations for Train Nos. 09021 and 09022 opened on March 7 through PRS counters and the IRCTC website.

The move is expected to significantly ease travel for cricket fans heading to Ahmedabad for the much-anticipated T20 World Cup final, officials added. DeshGujarat
