Surat: Mandvi police on Thursday busted an alleged fake ghee manufacturing unit at Khedpur village near Mandvi in Surat district and seized 810 kg of adulterated ghee worth about Rs 6.65 lakh. Toilet cleaner bottles and tobacco packets were also found at the unit.
Police said the ghee was being sold under the brand name “Yadugiri Pure Cow Ghee” with premium-quality labels. Around 97,000 stickers of the brand were recovered, indicating large-scale production.
The unit was operating from a house in Agreshwar City Point, where accused Hemraj Rajpurohit (39) was allegedly running the racket for the past few months.
Police seized packing machines, gas stove, cylinders, containers, food colour, sealing and coding machines, plastic bottles, and stickers used for making fake ghee. Officers also found 1,000 toilet cleaner bottles, 1,960 tobacco pouches, and about 200 litres of acid stored in barrels.
Samples have been sent for testing, and police are investigating the source of raw materials and the supply network. DeshGujarat
