VMC Seals GSRTC Makarpura Bus Depot Office Over Pending Tax Dues
March 09, 2026
Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has launched an aggressive drive to recover outstanding taxes. As part of the action, the civic body’s tax collection branch carried out a raid at the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus depot in the Makarpura area on Monday. The municipal corporation sealed the main administrative office of the depot over pending property tax dues of around ₹1.96 crore.
According to officials, the VMC had issued several notices earlier to the Makarpura ST depot and the concerned department regarding pending tax dues running into crores. Despite being given sufficient time to clear the amount, the ST department failed to pay the outstanding tax, following which the municipal corporation initiated strict action.
A municipal team reached the depot in the morning and sealed the door of the main office. Officials said passenger movement and bus services have not been affected so far, but administrative work at the depot has come to a halt.
The corporation has warned that stricter action will be taken in the coming days if the outstanding dues are not cleared at the earliest. DeshGujarat
