Two Schoolboys Stabbed in Separate Incidents in Ahmedabad and Surat
March 16, 2026
Ahmedabad/Surat: Incidents of violent clashes among school students are raising concern in the state after two shocking knife attack cases involving minors were reported from Ahmedabad and Surat within a short span. Both incidents were triggered by minor arguments that escalated into serious assaults. Police in both cities have registered offences and initiated legal action against the accused juveniles.
Tuition class dispute turns violent in Ahmedabad
In Ahmedabad’s Bapunagar–Hirawadi area, a Class 11 student was stabbed by his schoolmate following an argument over seating arrangements at a tuition class. According to police, both students study in the same school and attend a commerce tuition class near Pratiksha Market.
On March 15, an argument broke out when one student asked the other to sit in another room due to lack of space. The verbal dispute ended at the class, but later in the afternoon the accused confronted the victim near Bhomia Dairy in Hirawadi and attacked him with a knife, stabbing him on the left side of the abdomen.
The injured student was rushed to Civil Hospital by his friend in an autorickshaw and is currently under treatment. Bapunagar police have registered a case against the minor accused and detained him for further investigation.
Class 10 student stabbed outside school gate in Surat
In another incident in the Pandesara area of Surat, four minors allegedly attacked a Class 10 student with a knife outside Galaxy Army International School following a dispute during a school function.
Police said the victim had gone to attend his sister’s school programme with his mother when an argument broke out during a dance performance after one student accidentally hit another. The quarrel continued outside the school gate, where the accused students stopped the victim, abused him and attacked him with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple injuries on his back and abdomen.
The seriously injured student underwent surgery and could not appear for his Class 10 board examination, raising fears that his academic year may be affected.
The victim’s family has alleged that the accused minors had ordered the knife online and carried out the attack with planning. Pandesara police have detained four juveniles and registered a case under relevant sections of the law. Investigation is underway to verify how the weapon was obtained.
Concern over rising violent behaviour among minors
Both incidents have sparked concern among parents and authorities, as minor disputes among students are increasingly turning into serious violent crimes. Police officials said counselling, parental supervision and stricter monitoring around schools and tuition classes are necessary to prevent such incidents in the future. DeshGujarat
