Surat: Finally, the first trainset has arrived in the city of Surat. The first trainset of three coaches arrived on 16th of March night in the city in large Haryana passing trucks that arrived from Hugli in West Bengal. Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) sources have confirmed this development, and videos of Metro trainset in Surat are already viral.

The trial run on Dream City to Althan and possibly upto Majura gate line is likely to take place soon, for which engineers have arrived from the manufacturer side. The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) which functions under the Government of Gujarat had ordered 24 Metro Trainsets from West Bengal based private company Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd in 2023. Each rake features a three-coach configuration, same as Ahmedabad Metro.

The railset has been placed at Metro depot at Dream City in Khajod area of city. Groundbreaking for Surat Metro was done in the year 2021. The elevated route has completed from Kadarshani Nal to Majuragate and then to Dream City. However the works for stations of Kadarsha Nal and Majura gate are yet to complete. This route is around 7 km long. It has stations such as Dream City, Convention Centre, Surat Women ITI, VIP Road, Althan Gam, Althan Tenament, Roopali Central and Majura Gate. The line where trial run is likely to take place is entirely elevated and it is a Green line corridor one which would in future reach upto Sarthana. DeshGujarat
