Rain Forecast in 7 Districts of Gujarat Today; Temperatures to Rise Over Next 4 Days: IMD
March 20, 2026
Ahmedabad: After unseasonal rain and a drop in temperature across several parts of Gujarat during the last two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a gradual rise in temperature and subsiding rain activity in the state over the next few days. According to the latest weather bulletin, dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across most districts after likely isolated light rain in some areas today.
As per the IMD bulletin, “Light rain/thundershowers are very likely at isolated places in the districts of North Gujarat region, namely Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Dahod and Mahisagar; at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra, namely Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and in Diu” till 8:30 am on Saturday. After that, dry weather is likely to persist across the state till March 27.
IMD stated that rainfall occurred at many places in North Gujarat and Saurashtra–Kutch during the past 24 hours, while South Gujarat received rain at isolated locations. Due to the rain and cloudy conditions, maximum temperatures fell in parts of North Gujarat and Kutch and remained below normal in several areas of the state. VV Nagar recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36.1°C, while Amreli recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 16.6°C.
The weather department said the recent change in weather was caused by a western disturbance and associated trough extending from North Pakistan to southwest Madhya Pradesh, along with an upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana. However, the system is now weakening, and conditions are expected to stabilise.
IMD has forecast that maximum temperatures in Gujarat may rise gradually by 3–5°C during the next four days, while minimum temperatures may increase by 2–3°C, after which no significant change is likely.
No weather warning has been issued for the coming week.
For Ahmedabad and surrounding areas, the forecast till Saturday morning indicates a partly cloudy sky with the maximum temperature around 34°C and minimum temperature around 19°C. DeshGujarat
