IMD forecasts unseasonal rain in these parts of Gujarat during next 24 hours

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at isolated places in parts of North Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra during the next 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on March 22, while dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the state during the following days.

According to the latest weather bulletin, heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Gir Somnath district during the past 24 hours, while light rain was recorded at isolated places in parts of Saurashtra and Diu.

For the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, and Mehsana districts of North Gujarat, and in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Kutch, and Diu in the Saurashtra region.

From March 22 onwards, dry weather is very likely across all districts of Gujarat, Saurashtra–Kutch, Daman, Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli for the rest of the week. No weather warning has been issued for the next seven days.

The IMD said an upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan is influencing the weather conditions over Gujarat. However, the western disturbance affecting north India is not expected to have any significant impact on the state.

The department has also predicted a gradual rise of 3–5°C in maximum temperatures and 2–3°C in minimum temperatures over the next three days, after which no major change is expected.

In Ahmedabad, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature around 35°C and minimum around 19°C during the next 24 hours.

The IMD said no heavy rain, thunderstorm, or heatwave warning has been issued for Gujarat for the coming week. DeshGujarat
