NH-56 upgrade in Gujarat: GR Infraprojects lowest bidder for ₹1,453-crore project
March 28, 2026
New Delhi: G R Infraprojects Limited has emerged as the lowest (L-1) bidder for a key highway upgradation project in Gujarat, part of a larger Centre-approved infrastructure push along National Highway-56.
The project, awarded by the National Highways Authority of India, involves upgrading a 60.21-km stretch of an existing two-lane highway from Nasarpore in Umarpada taluka to Malotha in Vyara taluka into a four-lane divided carriageway. The contract is valued at ₹1,453.57 crore and will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), with a completion timeline of 910 days (2.5 years).
The project is part of a larger ₹4,583.64-crore initiative approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February this year. The approved plan includes two key stretches—Dhamasiya–Bitada/Movi (47.46 km) and Nasarpore–Malotha (60.21 km)—covering a total length of 107.67 km on NH-56.
NH-56 is a strategically important corridor that originates at Nimbahera in Rajasthan, passes through Madhya Pradesh and multiple districts in Gujarat, and terminates near Vapi, connecting with NH-48.
Designed for a speed of 100 kmph, the upgraded corridor is expected to enable an average travel speed of 70 kmph, reducing travel time by nearly 40%, from about 2.5 hours to 1.5 hours. DeshGujarat
