NH-56 Upgrade in Gujarat: G R Infraprojects Subsidiary Bags Rs 1,453-Crore NHAI Project

Mumbai: G R Infraprojects Ltd has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nasarpore Malotha Highway Private Limited, has signed a concession agreement with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for a highway expansion project in Gujarat.

The project involves upgrading an existing two-lane carriageway into a four-lane divided highway on a 60.21-km stretch of National Highway-56 in Gujarat. The section extends from Nasarpore village in Umarpada taluka to Malotha village in Vyara taluka.

According to a regulatory filing, the project will be executed under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) framework, a public-private partnership model under which infrastructure projects are developed with financial participation from both the government and private entities.

The estimated project cost has been pegged at Rs 1,453.57 crore, excluding GST, with a construction timeline of 910 days, or approximately 2.5 years, from the appointed date.

The Nasarpore–Malotha stretch of NH-56 forms part of a broader Rs 4,583.64-crore highway development project approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs earlier this year. The larger initiative includes the upgradation of two major stretches, Dhamasiya–Bitada/Movi (47.46 km) and Nasarpore–Malotha (60.21 km), covering a combined 107.67-km section of NH-56.

NH-56 serves as a key transport corridor connecting multiple states. The highway originates at Nimbahera in Rajasthan, passes through Madhya Pradesh and several districts of Gujarat, and terminates near Vapi, where it links with NH-48.

The upgraded corridor has been designed for speeds of up to 100 kmph and is expected to increase average travel speeds to around 70 kmph, potentially reducing travel time by nearly 40% from approximately 2.5 hours to 1.5 hours.

The project is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and strengthen transport infrastructure across the corridor. DeshGujarat
