Gujarat Plans Incentives to Turn Sanand and Becharaji into EV Hubs
April 03, 2026
Gandhinagar: Sanand and the Mandal Becharaji Special Investment Region (MBSIR) have emerged as key automobile manufacturing centres in the last decade, and with the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) on the rise, the Gujarat government is mulling positioning these hubs as major centres for EV manufacturing, a news report said.
As per the TOI report, the upcoming industrial policy will introduce a range of incentives aimed at boosting EV production and component manufacturing. The government intends to prioritise Sanand and MBSIR for EV-related industries, with land allocation being fast-tracked for such projects. A dedicated incentive package for the EV sector is also expected shortly.
It is learnt that existing automobile manufacturers may receive fresh incentives to support their EV ventures or expansion plans. These benefits may also extend to companies involved in EV battery production and related components.
These industrial regions have seen the expansion of key industry players such as Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Honda, and Hero MotoCorp. Some of these companies have already set up EV manufacturing facilities in the two hubs. DeshGujarat
