Ahmedabad: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has announced the approval of ₹508 crore for the upgradation of the 68 km-long Naliya–Narayan Sarovar section of National Highway 41 in Gujarat.

The project aims to enhance connectivity to Narayan Sarovar, one of the five sacred Panch-Sarovar sites in Hindu tradition. The area hosts two major religious fairs annually, attracting thousands of pilgrims.

The upgraded highway will also improve access to key ecological destinations, including the Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary and the Narayan Sarovar Wildlife Sanctuary, thereby boosting tourism and the local economy in the region.

According to the minister, the upgradation will address identified accident-prone spots along the route to ensure safer and uninterrupted travel. The project is also expected to reduce travel time and strengthen connectivity between Narayan Sarovar and Mundra Port, a key logistics hub.

This development is expected to significantly improve road safety, facilitate religious tourism, and support regional economic growth in Kutch. DeshGujarat
