Man Booked for Assaulting Cop, Vandalising Anandnagar Police Station

Ahmedabad: A 25-year-old man was booked on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a policeman and damaging property at the Anandnagar Police Station. The accused, identified as Kamal Singh Bharatsinh Parmar, a resident of Gopal Awas in the Satellite area, was reportedly involved in a dispute with a local shopkeeper when police intervened.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Anandnagar Police, Head Constable Jayveersinh and his team were on duty for Ambedkar Jayanti security preparations when they encountered Parmar. When the police attempted to mediate a conflict at ‘New Bharat Fabrication’, Parmar allegedly became aggressive, used abusive language, and obstructed the policemen from performing their legal duties.

During the ensuing scuffle, Parmar reportedly punched the head constable in the stomach and bit his right thumb. He also allegedly attacked another policeman when officers were trying to place him inside a police van.

Furthermore, the violence allegedly continued after the accused was brought to the Anandnagar Police Station for further action. Parmar is accused of smashing a CCTV monitor in the station’s surveillance room using his head, causing damage estimated at around ₹50,000 to government property. While in custody, he allegedly issued threats to police personnel, claiming he would use his influence to have them removed from their positions.

The Anandnagar Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions related to assault on a public servant and criminal intimidation. The investigation is currently being led by Police Sub-Inspector Yuvrajsinh. The injured complainant was later treated at a local civil hospital. DeshGujarat
