BJP Sweeps 11 of 24 Seats Unopposed in Bayad Municipality

Bayad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to take control of Bayad Municipality in the Aravalli district after securing 11 seats uncontested during the nomination process out of a total of 24 seats.

During the scrutiny of nomination forms held at the Bayad Prant office, it was revealed that while the BJP submitted valid forms for all 24 seats, only 13 Congress nomination forms were approved. A major setback for the opposition occurred in Ward No. 2, where a Congress candidate’s form was rejected due to the absence of an official mandate.

Sources indicate that Congress and other political parties failed to field candidates for 11 seats, effectively ensuring a BJP victory in those wards. This development is partly attributed to local Congress leaders and workers reportedly being given BJP tickets, leading to a state of flux in the local political landscape.

The final list of contesting candidates will be confirmed on April 15, the last date for withdrawal of nominations. While the BJP’s position has strengthened significantly with these early gains, polling for the remaining seats is scheduled for April 26. Local observers believe the BJP is now well on course to secure a full majority in the Bayad Municipality. DeshGujarat
