Surat: Tension flared at Sant Devidas Society in the Sarthana Jakatnaka area of Surat after a minor dispute escalated into a violent clash between local women and a group of youths running an online business from a rented house. Videos of the incident, showing members from both sides engaged in a scuffle and tearing each other’s clothes, have surfaced on social media.

According to residents, some youths had been operating an online business from a rented premises in the society. Locals alleged that, under the guise of this business, the movement of unknown and suspicious individuals had increased, disturbing the peace in the area. On Monday (April 13), the situation reportedly escalated when women residents stopped individuals who had arrived to collect deliveries, triggering the confrontation.

The argument soon turned into a physical altercation. It is alleged that the youths misbehaved with the women and tore their clothes. In retaliation, the women also confronted the youths, leading to a scuffle during which both sides reportedly attacked each other and damaged clothing. The entire incident was recorded on mobile phones.

Following the incident, a team from Sarthana police rushed to the spot. While initial efforts were made to resolve the issue locally, the situation intensified, prompting police to take members from both sides to the police station.

Police have recorded statements from both parties. While the women have alleged misconduct and assault, the youths have made counter-allegations. Authorities are currently investigating the matter based on CCTV footage and video evidence, and both sides have initiated the process of filing cross-complaints.
