Surat Airport to Commission 5 New Aircraft Parking Bays on May 14
April 14, 2026
Surat: Five new aircraft parking bays are set to be commissioned at Surat International Airport from May 14, 2026, providing a significant boost to the airport’s operational capacity.
The addition of these bays will enhance aircraft parking facilities, enabling airlines to introduce new flights and expand existing services. Alongside this, the Parallel Taxi Track (PTT) will also become fully operational. Until now, the track has been only partially functional.
With full operationalisation of the taxi track, runway occupancy time is expected to reduce significantly. This will nearly double the runway’s utilisation capacity, allowing faster and safer aircraft movement.
The expansion has been undertaken in view of the rapid industrial and commercial growth of Surat and the wider South Gujarat region. Airport authorities are also planning to add two more parking bays in the future to meet rising passenger traffic and increasing demand for international connectivity.
With these modern infrastructure upgrades, Surat Airport is expected to strengthen its position on the national and international aviation map. Officials added that further development initiatives will continue, with a focus on enhancing passenger-centric services and ensuring operational safety. DeshGujarat
