Monkey Menace: 5 Injured in Three Localities of Ahmedabad
April 15, 2026
Ahmedabad: Residents of Adarshnagar, Vijaynagar and Pragatinagar areas in the city have been living in fear after a spate of monkey attacks over the past four days left multiple people injured.
In just two days, from Monday to Tuesday, four to five residents were reportedly bitten, raising serious safety concerns, particularly for children and elderly citizens. “People are scared to step out. The monkey attacks suddenly and then runs away,” a resident told the media.
Residents alleged that repeated complaints to the Forest Department initially went unaddressed, forcing them to escalate the matter in the public interest. Following this, the department launched a rescue operation on Tuesday.
It is learnt that one monkey has been captured so far, while search efforts are ongoing for two others believed to be involved in the attacks. Forest officials have also placed cages at several locations in the affected areas to safely trap the animals.
