Gujarat Local Elections 2026: Here’s How to Know Your Candidates

Ahmedabad: The final day for withdrawal of nominations for the upcoming local body elections on Wednesday witnessed intense political activity across Gujarat.

According to data released by the State Election Commission (SEC), a total of 1,572 candidates withdrew their nominations, while 325 candidates were declared elected unopposed. As many as 26,140 candidates remain in the fray for the elections scheduled on April 26.

The elections will cover 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats across the state.

The SEC data further shows that 3,204 candidates are contesting municipal corporation elections, 5,589 in municipalities, 22 in municipality by-elections, 3,127 in district panchayats, and 14,198 in taluka panchayats.

Polling for all local bodies will be held on April 26, while counting of votes is scheduled for April 28.

Ahead of casting their vote, citizens can check details of candidates contesting from their respective areas through the SEC’s official portal.

How to Check Candidate Details:

  • Visit the State Election Commission website or directly access the Poll Monitoring System: https://sec-poll.gujarat.gov.in/Index.aspx
  • Select the type of election (e.g., Municipal Corporation) and the year
  • Enter the captcha and log in
  • Click on ‘Nomination Details’ to view ward-wise candidate information
  • Select your ward or city and click on “હરિફ ઉમેદવાર” to see the list of candidates across party lines

How to View Candidate Affidavits:

  • Visit the SEC website and click on “ઉમેદવારીના સોગંદનામા” (Candidate Affidavits) section
  • Select the type of election and year
  • Enter the captcha and log in
  • Choose district, constituency, and status, then click on ‘View Report’
  • The list of candidates along with their affidavits will be displayed
