Junagadh to Allow Pre-Wedding Shoots, Cultural Events at Narsinh Mehta Lake
April 17, 2026
Junagadh: The Junagadh Municipal Corporation has decided to open up the city’s historic and newly developed Narsinh Mehta Sarovar for pre-wedding shoots and cultural activities, aiming to boost tourism as well as local employment.
The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the standing committee, which approved proposals to allow organised photography sessions and cultural programmes at the scenic lakefront. With this move, residents, especially young couples, will no longer need to travel to other cities for pre-wedding shoots, as the city now offers a picturesque and accessible venue.
The civic body has fixed a fee of ₹5,000 for a three-hour pre-wedding shoot slot. Officials believe this pricing will make the facility widely accessible while also generating revenue.
In addition, the amphitheatre developed at the lake has been opened for cultural events to promote local art and talent. The amphitheatre within the Sarovar premises has also been made available for local artists at a fee of ₹4,000 for three hours, providing a dedicated platform for performances.
Civic authorities stated that the initiative is expected to create new opportunities for local photographers, videographers, and artists, while strengthening Junagadh’s position as an emerging cultural and tourism destination. DeshGujarat
