April 17, 2026
Ahmedabad: Gujarat is set to witness largely dry weather conditions over the next 48 hours, with isolated pockets likely to receive light to moderate rainfall from April 19 onwards, according to the latest weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per the forecast, no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected across the state during the next seven days. However, temperatures are likely to remain above 40°C in isolated pockets of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch over the next three days. Rajkot recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at 41.9°C in the past 24 hours.
Rain activity from April 19
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places starting April 19. Districts such as Chhota Udepur, Dahod, and Mahisagar in the Gujarat region, along with Amreli and Bhavnagar in Saurashtra, may receive rainfall on that day.
On April 20, rain activity is expected to shift towards South Gujarat, with Tapi and Dang likely to receive thundershowers, while Amreli and Bhavnagar in Saurashtra may continue to receive rainfall.
On April 21, Bharuch and Surat districts are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall along with isolated thundershowers. Parts of Saurashtra, including Amreli and Bhavnagar, may also continue to receive rainfall.
From April 22 onwards, dry weather is expected to prevail again across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
Synoptic situation
The prevailing weather pattern is influenced by a western disturbance positioned over northern latitudes, along with an upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan. A trough extending from northwest Rajasthan to southwest Madhya Pradesh is also impacting regional weather conditions.
Outlook
No major change in weather patterns is expected during April 24–26, suggesting continued stable conditions across the state.
Overall, Gujarat is likely to experience a mix of heat and brief, isolated rainfall activity in the coming days, offering limited relief from rising temperatures. DeshGujarat
