Scorching Heat Sweeps Gujarat as Maximum Temperature Nears 42°C

Ahmedabad: Gujarat continued to reel under intense summer heat, with several parts of the state recording maximum temperatures close to or above 40°C, according to the weather report issued this morning.

The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Rajkot at 41.9°C, which is 2.5°C above normal, making it the hottest location in the state. Ahmedabad also experienced scorching conditions, recording a maximum temperature of 40.4°C, slightly above normal by 0.5°C.

Other major cities, including Amreli (40.3°C), Bhuj (39.7°C), Gandhinagar (39.6°C), Vadodara (39.4°C), and Deesa (39.3°C), also recorded high daytime temperatures, indicating widespread heat across inland regions.

In contrast, coastal areas remained relatively cooler. Dwarka recorded 31.2°C, while Diu (32.7°C), Veraval (32.0°C), and Porbandar (34.3°C) reported lower maximum temperatures due to maritime influence.

Among other locations, Bhavnagar recorded 37.0°C, while Surat saw a comparatively moderate 34.8°C, which was 1.7°C below normal.

Humidity levels varied significantly, with coastal regions such as Dwarka and Porbandar reporting high relative humidity in the morning, while inland cities like Ahmedabad and Rajkot witnessed lower evening humidity levels, intensifying heat discomfort.

The data suggests that interior parts of Gujarat are witnessing above-normal temperatures, raising concerns of continued heatwave-like conditions in the coming days. DeshGujarat
