33-Year-Old Man Dies After Collapsing into Resort Swimming Pool in Rajkot; CCTV footage goes viral

Rajkot: A birthday celebration turned into a tragedy on Sunday after a 33-year-old man allegedly suffered a heart attack and drowned in a swimming pool at a resort near Kagvad village in Rajkot district.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Rathod, who had visited the resort with his family to celebrate his son’s ninth birthday.

According to police, Ajay was near the swimming pool when he suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed into the water without his family noticing immediately. Family members and others present initially believed he was swimming normally. CCTV footage from the resort later showed his young son standing near the pool and calling out to him, asking him to come out.

The footage also showed the child moving from the children’s pool towards the larger pool in an attempt to reach his father. When Ajay failed to respond or move, bystanders rushed to pull him out of the pool in an unconscious condition.

Despite immediate CPR efforts, he could not be revived. He was taken to Virpur Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Preliminary investigation by Rajkot Rural police revealed that Rathod, a resident of Rajkot’s Navagam area who worked in online marketing, is suspected to have suffered a heart attack while in the pool.
