Ahmedabad: A hit-and-run incident came to light in the city on Monday afternoon after a speeding BMW car rammed into an autorickshaw near Bhakti Circle in the Nikol area, leaving the rickshaw driver seriously injured.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the car veered into an AMTS bus stand, causing significant damage to the structure. The BMW car was also extensively damaged in the incident. Following the collision, the BMW driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle.

According to initial reports, the autorickshaw overturned due to the force of the collision, while parts of the bus stand structure collapsed after being hit by the car.

The injured rickshaw driver sustained severe head and body injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Upon receiving information, the I Division Traffic Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

PI S.I. Sumra of the I Division Traffic Police said that the car driver fled after the accident and is currently absconding. “One team has been sent to the hospital to record the victim’s complaint, while another team is working to trace the accused driver,” he said.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the car involved in the accident is registered in Maharashtra. Further probe is underway. DeshGujarat
